About
Title
10. A Darwinian ballad
Subject
Evolution (Biology)
Description
A collection of clippings containing a poem with no credited author entitled "A Darwinian Ballad", which is about evolutionary biology and the Darwinian claims that humans evolved from apes. This poem speaks to the specific conflicting points of view between Richard Owen and Charles Darwin (and, on his behalf often, Thomas Huxley) about whether the size of primate brains differed drastically from humans or not, an argument often used by the Darwinian camp to suggest people of color were more closely related to apes than Europeans were.
