Title
Benjamin, Foster Hendrickson
Description
This folder primarily contains correspondence from Foster Hendrickson Benjamin, an entomologist who specialized in Lepidoptera. Benjamin worked for the State Plant Board of Mississippi before working as a curator for the William Barnes Museum. A large portion of Benjamin’s correspondence is centered around his disagreements with Henry Skinner of the American Entomological Society (AES) on the taxonomy and nomenclature of genus, Megathymus. The two were unable to come to an agreement, so they reached out to the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature for a resolution; however, this left Benjamin unsatisfied. He also voiced his criticisms and disapproval of the publication methods of several entomologists involved in their work with Megathymus. Benjamin, Foster Hendrickson (22) 1922-1926.
