Title
01. Portrait of Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins, No. 1
Subject
Portrait photography
Description
A sepia-toned photo portrait of Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins seated with his left arm atop the chair of his seat and his head leaning into his left hand. It was suggested by Princeton Natural History Museum curator Dr. Donald Baird that this photograph is likely to have been taken at the Academy of Natural Sciences Philadelphia in August or September 1875 by Frederick Gutekunst; however, this is not confirmed by the material directly contained within this collection due to the lack of a photographer signature or stamp on the item.
