Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. Ernest Henry Blackmore or E.H. Blackmore was the president of the British Columbia Entomological Society. His correspondence to Henry Skinner largely discusses his work with butterflies collected in British Columbia and Manitoba. There are frequent mentions of “Pamphila”, a name for a skipper genus that is no longer used. Frank Ellsworth Blaisdell or F.E. Blaisdell was a collector of Coleoptera, who collaborated with the American Entomological Society (AES) to build a collection of West Coast Coleoptera. Examples of Coleoptera mentioned throughout his correspondence include but are not limited to Omus, Podabrus, and Blaptinae.
Doris H. Blake was an entomologist, who worked at the United States Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Entomology. Her correspondence to the AES consists of exchanges of specimens and their descriptions between the Bureau of Entomology and the AES. Many of these specimens are beetles, such as Trirhabda and Guttata. Frederick Blanchard was an entomologist who worked with Coleoptera. Much of his correspondence contains observations and descriptions of various Coleoptera along with exchanges of specimens between him and the AES. Some examples mentioned include but are not limited to Polyphylla and Pseudomorpha.
