Description
This folder contains correspondence from and directed to Annette Frances Braun, an entomologist who specialized in microlepidoptera. Her correspondence with the American Entomological Society (AES) is comprised of comments on potential research publications, descriptions of collected microlepidoptera, and exchange lists of specimens. One type of microlepidoptera frequently mentioned is Lithocolletis; Braun based her doctor’s thesis on this subfamily titled, “Evolution of the Color Pattern in the Microlepidoptera Ferous Genus Lithocolletis.” In 1917, Braun mailed specimens of 32 species of Nepticulidae and 34 species of Lithocolletis to the AES. Additionally, Braun collected several specimens during a 1921 trip to Glacier National Park in Montana.
In 1933, Annette Frances Braun was elected as a Corresponding Member of the AES.
