Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. Lawrence Bruner was an entomologist and professor, who taught at the University of Nebraska’s Department of Entomology. His correspondence indicates that much of his work focused on diurnal Lepidoptera; however, he also worked with Hymenoptera as shown in a letter to the American Entomological Society (AES) where he proposed an exchange of Argentine and Bolivian Hymenoptera for North American specimens owned by the AES. His correspondence also contains a list of diurnal Lepidoptera in the University of Nebraska’s collection in 1894.
Henry Grier Bryant was an explorer whose correspondence largely discusses his 1897 Alaskan expedition where he collected several moths such as millers. While exploring the Malaspina Glacier, he collected small black worms that were accompanied by small black fleas. He wrote to the AES for assistance in identifying worms and fleas found on the glacier.
