Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. Peter Cameron’s correspondence largely discusses the potential exchange of Hymenoptera specimens between himself and the American Entomological Society (AES). In one letter, he offered to exchange various European sawflies for North American sawflies owned by the AES. In another letter, he mentioned sending the AES a collection of Indian Hymenoptera.
H. Caracciolo’s correspondence, spanning from 1890-1892, contains several descriptions and a list of insects he collected in the area surrounding Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, a British colony at the time. Insects he collected and sent to the AES include but are not limited to caterpillars, beetles, and ladybugs.
Mrs. S.E. Carter’s correspondence discusses her large collection of butterflies and moths that she gathered in Georgiana, Florida. She often wrote to Henry Skinner for assistance on gauging appropriate prices for each of her specimens. She also mailed multiple specimens to the AES for further study and identification.
