Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. George H. Field's correspondence is centered around his collection of butterflies that he captured in San Diego, California. In a 1906 letter to Henry Skinner of the American Entomological Society (AES), Field stated his goal of building a complete collection of butterflies of San Diego and writing several publications about the collection. Field also offered to send several of his captured specimens to the AES for further identification and description.
The first half of William Lusk Webster Field's correspondence discusses the delayed acquisition of two specimens of a butterfly named Lycaena xerces. The second half pertains to a project headed by the Milton Historical Society and the Cambridge Entomological Club to place a tablet in Milton, Massachusetts that honors entomologist, Thaddeus William Harris. Field reached out to the AES to determine if any representatives would attend the unveiling ceremony. Ferris, Gordon Floyd (2) 1934-1945; Ficke, H. (1) 1894; Field, George H.
