Description
This folder contains correspondence from George Thomas Bethune-Baker or G.T. Bethune-Baker, an English entomologist who specialized in Lycaenidae. Much of his correspondence describes his analysis of several Lycaenidae species, specifically their genitalia, to distinguish them from one another. Species mentioned throughout his correspondence include but are not limited to Lycaena arota, Zizula cyna, and Lycaena phlaeas. Several of his analysis were conducted at the British Museum in London. His correspondence also contains multiple exchanges of butterfly specimens with the American Entomological Society (AES). Although many of his specimens originated from the United States, Bethune-Baker had some specimens that came from New Guinea and Jamaica.
George Thomas Bethune-Baker was elected as a Corresponding Member of the AES in 1924. Bethune-Baker, George Thomas (17) 1913-1924.
