Description
This folder holds correspondence from and directed to multiple individuals. The correspondence of V.T. Chambers discusses his work with moths. In one letter, he thanked the American Entomological Society (AES) for help in determining if a specimen he collected was a Psilocorsis quercicella, commonly known as an oak leaftier moth, or not. Chambers also worked with Hymenoptera, having collected several specimens in Covington, Kentucky.
Alfred B. Champlain was the curator of insects for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. His correspondence refers to several deliveries of different insects to the AES for identification. In March 1920, he sent some Diptera to the AES. In August of that year, he sent multiple specimens of Pogonosoma, a genus of robber flies. The specimens of Pogonosoma were collected in three different states, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
W.W. Chapman was a member of the AES who served as recording secretary from 1935 to 1939. In his correspondence, he requested that the Nominating Committee not consider him for the position for 1940. In 1941, he was made an Associate Member of the AES, exempting him from dues.
